by I La Galigo
Adapted Version
After the king and queen of Sinking Wero passed, their kingdom felt deep sadness and lost strength. Batara Lattu, a determined leader, guided recovery efforts, working tirelessly to restore hope.
Batara Lattu gathered Sinking Wero's wise elders, his voice firm as he spoke of rebuilding stability. We Datu Sengeng, observing the swift progress, affirmed her belief that their hard work would bring Sinking Wero back to glory. Batara Lattu then spoke of honoring the late monarchs, suggesting tomb renovation as a sign of deep respect. We Nyili' Timo quickly agreed, emphasizing ancestors were the foundation and deserved tribute.
After ensuring stability, Batara Lattu decided it was time to return to his homeland, Ale Luwu. We Datu Sengeng would accompany him, ready for the journey and a new chapter. On the long sea journey, Batara Lattu urged the oarsmen to push harder, his heart filled with an unbearable longing for home. The crew, though weary, understood his desire, pulling with renewed effort.
As the ship neared Ale Luwu's coast, Batara Lattu’s face brightened with pure joy. But We Datu Sengeng, scanning the shore, felt a pang of disappointment. Only a group of royal attendants awaited them, not Batara Guru himself. Tears welled in her eyes. "Where is Batara Guru?" she whispered, her voice trembling. "This is not the welcome I expected for his son's return, nor for me!" Batara Lattu gently took her hand. "Do not despair, my dear," he soothed. "I am certain Batara Guru will appear soon. He must be preparing a grander welcome."
Just then, a regal figure emerged from behind the attendants, followed by We Nyili' Timo. It was Batara Guru! He strode forward, his face beaming, and enveloped Batara Lattu in a warm embrace. We Nyili' Timo then stepped forward, her eyes kind, and welcomed We Datu Sengeng into their family with a loving hug. We Datu Sengeng's earlier resentment melted away, replaced by a profound sense of belonging. She smiled, ready to embrace her new life in Ale Luwu, feeling truly accepted.
As they walked towards the grand palace, Batara Lattu felt a deep contentment. All the difficulties of his past, the long journey, and his longing for home, were now richly rewarded by this heartfelt reunion. He looked at his family, a newfound strength filling him. With them by his side, he knew he could face any future challenge with unwavering optimism. That evening, the family celebrated their reunion with a magnificent welcoming ceremony, filled with laughter, music, and the promise of a bright future.
