High in a tree, Eagle and Fox lived. They lived close in one small place. Eagle built a nest in the tree. Fox made a den under thick brush. They made a promise to be friends. They promised care, peace, and trust. Each felt safe near the other. Each watched the same sky each day.

One day Fox was away from home. Fox looked for food far from den. Eagle saw the den from above. Eagle remembered the promise, then broke it. Eagle flew down to Fox's small den. Eagle took all the little kits. Eagle carried them up into the sky. Then Eagle left, and the kits vanished.

Fox came back and saw the sky. Fox saw Eagle flying from the den. Fox knew the kits were gone. Fox ran under the tree and waited. Fox felt deep hurt and anger. Fox looked up, but Fox stayed below. Fox could not reach Eagle in air. Fox sat still and watched the nest.

Later Fox made an offering by fire. Fox placed meat near the small fire. Smoke rose, and Fox stood nearby. Eagle saw the meat from high sky. Eagle dropped down fast to the fire. Eagle grabbed one piece of warm meat. Eagle held the meat in sharp claws. Then Eagle flew back toward the tree.

One hot ember stuck in Eagle's claws. Eagle did not see the ember glow. Eagle carried meat and ember to nest. Eagle fed the meat to young birds. Then the ember touched dry nest grass. The ember started a small nest fire. The fire grew and spread through twigs. Eagle saw smoke and felt sudden fear.

Eagle's young birds were still very small. They could not fly from the nest. The fire rose around the nest edge. The young birds moved and fell down. They dropped from tree to hard ground. Fox watched all this from below. Fox saw Eagle circle over the fire. Eagle could not lift the young birds. The ground held the young birds still.

Fox watched with cold, quiet care. Now Fox walked to the tree base. The young birds lay there by roots. Eagle looked down and saw Fox near. Fox took the young birds for payback. Fox did not smile or leap. Eagle stayed above, and Eagle lost all. Fox lost all kits on that day. Both homes were empty after that day. Hurting others breaks trust, and harm returns.

Vihdoin siis kettu sai tyydyttää kostonhimonsa ahmimalla vihollisensa lapset ihan niiden emon silmien edessä.
