On Christmas morning, snow covers the ground. The world is white and very still. Everything is quiet and peaceful. The soft snow sparkles in the early light. It looks like a clean, white blanket. A single star shines from behind the clouds. It is a bright, hopeful light. Christmas night is over. A new day begins.

The star is the morning star. It shines high in the blue sky. Its light is strong and clear. People see the star. They stop and look up. They feel happy and thankful in their hearts. They say thank you to God for the beautiful morning.

Church bells begin to ring. Ding, dong, ding, dong. The happy sound calls to everyone. The sound travels over the snowy roofs. Young people and old people hear the bells. They put on their warm coats. They walk together to the church. They go to feel God's special love. They go to sing and pray.

Inside the church, it is warm. Everyone feels hope in their hearts. A person praying feels hope too. Their heart feels warm and light. They look up at the bright star through the window. The star seems to smile down at them.

The person praying talks to God. "God, you know who is kind. You know who is good. Please give your peace to them. Please keep them safe in your light. Let your light guide us all."

We all ask God for peace. We ask God to keep us safe and happy. We feel the hope grow inside us. The star shines down on the snowy world. Its light touches the white ground. It is a promise of a good day. It is a gift of light and love.

JOULUAAMUNA MAALLA.

    Lumitähtien sankka sarja

    Se peittävi mustan maan.

    Yks' tähtönen pilven alta

    Se tuikkivi yksin vaan.

    Se aamun tähtenä loistaa:

    Jo mennyt on jouluyö,

    Ja kansa se Herraa kiittää,

    Ja temppelin kello lyö.

    Se kutsuvi nuoret, vanhat

    Iki lemmen lähteellen.

    Jo täyttyvi toivolla mieli

    Myös kulkijan uupunehen.

    Sinä, Herra, Sä yksin tiedät,

    Ken nöyrä ja vilpitön lie:

    Suo rauhasi siunaus sille

    Ja valkeuteesi se vie!
