Two birds were best friends. They flew close each day. They sang happy songs. They loved to fly high in the sky. In winter, they lived in the warm south. In summer, they flew to the cool north. They were very happy as friends.

They flew close for a long time. They crossed many seas. They flew over many lands. They saw new places. They enjoyed their long flights. They sang as they flew. They were happy to fly as one.

One spring, the air felt warm. The sun was bright. The birds wanted to go north. They missed the cool forests. They thought of the tall trees. They felt the warm wind. They knew it was time to move. They were ready to fly.

They found a big tree. They sat on a branch. They decided to rest one more night. They put their heads under their wings. They slept soundly. The night was quiet.

The night was dark. A big spider came out. It was hungry. The spider was big and scary. It crept up the tree. It moved very softly. It climbed slowly up the tree. It did not want to make a sound.

The spider went up high. Then it came down slowly. It made a sticky string. The string was thin and strong. The spider worked softly. It spun the string as it moved. It moved with care.

The spider looked down. It saw the two sleeping birds. Their heads were under their wings. The birds did not move. They were fast asleep. They were in a deep sleep.

The spider jumped fast. It caught one bird quickly. It held the bird very tight. The spider wrapped its legs around the bird. The bird tried to move. The bird was scared. It could not get free. It could not fly away.

The bird did not wake up. In its dream, it saw a pretty new spring. There were green trees and flowers. The dream was bright and warm. The bird sang in the dream. It was happy in the dream.

The other bird was alone. It felt very sad. It missed its friend. It cried for a long time. The bird sat on the branch. It looked at the sky. It remembered its friend. It did not want to fly.

The bird began to dream. It dreamed of happy times. It saw its friend in the dream. They flew as one. The dream was good. The bird smiled in the dream. It felt better now. It did not feel so sad now.

The spider was still hungry. It kept looking for food. It needed to eat to live. It moved through the trees. The spider did not stop. It had to find more food. It was always very hungry.

Silloin lintujen mieli taas alkoi palaa pohjolan vilpoisiin havumetsiin. He odottivat tuulen tyyntymistä, sitten päättivät lähteä matkalle.
