Once there was a girl named Lily. She worked hard on the farm. She woke up early. Her father was strict. He wanted to be rich. He always talked about money. Lily fed the animals. She cleaned the barn. She was often tired.
Harry was a farm boy. He worked on a farm too. Harry liked Lily very much. He often watched her. He was not rich. He loved Lily. Harry was shy.
One day, Harry talked to Lily. He wanted to marry her. Lily was happy. She told Harry, "Ask my father." Harry felt scared.
Harry asked Lily's father. Lily's father said no. Harry had no money. Lily's father wanted money. He wanted much money. Lily felt very sad. She cried a little.
Later, Lily worked in the garden. She pulled out weeds. A man came. His name was Mr. Gold. He was an older man. He wore fine clothes. He was very rich.
Mr. Gold liked Lily. He asked Lily to marry him. He promised her a big house. He promised nice clothes. He promised many jewels. She would not work hard. Her life would be easy.
Lily said no to Mr. Gold. She liked Harry. She loved Harry very much. She missed Harry. She told Mr. Gold, "Go away." Mr. Gold did not go away. He went to Lily's father. Mr. Gold talked to Lily's father. He showed him money. Lily's father listened. He saw Mr. Gold's money. Lily's father said yes to Mr. Gold.
So, Lily married Mr. Gold. It was her wedding day. She wore a white dress. She was very quiet. She did not smile.
Harry missed Lily very much. He felt lonely. He wanted to see her again. He thought of her often.
One night, Harry came to Lily's window. It was dark outside. The moon was bright. Harry called to Lily. "Come back to the farm," he said. "Come back with me."
Lily shook her head. "No, Harry," she said. "I like my new life. It is easy. I have nice clothes. I eat good food. I do not work hard here." Lily looked at Harry. "You should get rich too, Harry," she said. Harry felt sad. His heart hurt. He turned and left. He went away.
