One day, Mother Time brought her four daughters to school.
"Hello, teacher," she said. "I am Mom Time. I have four girls. They need to learn kindness. Can they join your school?"
"This is my oldest girl, Winter," said Mom Time.
Winter stepped forward. "I am Winter," she said. "I wear warm furs. I bring snow and ice. I am cold. But I love Christmas!"
"Next is Spring," said Mom Time.
Spring jumped out from behind Winter. "I am Spring!" she said. "I make flowers grow. I am green and new!"
"This is Summer," said Mom Time.
Summer smiled. "I am Summer," she said. "I have a fan for hot days. I am warm and sunny. I like to play outside."
"And this is Autumn," said Mom Time.
Autumn held up some apples. "I am Autumn," she said. "I bring apples and red leaves. It is cozy."
Mom Time smiled. "Now, let's see what they know," she said. "Winter, what are stars?"
Winter looked up. "Stars are lights in the sky," she said.
"Good," said Mom Time. "Spring, come draw on the board."
Spring drew wavy lines. "This is the wind on water!" she said.
"Now, Summer," said Mom Time. "Tell a story about the world."
Summer said, "Long ago, the world was made. The sun and rain came."
"And Autumn," said Mom Time. "How many days in a year?"
Winter said, "There are 365 days." Autumn said, "Yes, 365 days in a year."
"Very good," said Mom Time. "My girls know a lot about plants and pets. Can they be in other grades in your class?"
The teacher nodded. "They can join," she said.
"Now, say thank you," said the teacher.
Winter said, "I will bring warm fires and happy times."
Spring said, "I will bring flowers and fun each year."
Summer said, "I will give you sunny days and hugs."
Autumn said, "I will bring apples and good times. Children will think of you with joy. Thank you."
The teacher smiled. "Each season is special," she said. "Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn all bring good things."
The Seasons were happy. They would bring gifts all year long. The end.
