RAUTATIEN KONDUKTÖÖRI.

    Sali on kuin kauppatori,

    Lisää vielä vaunut tuo,

    Rouvat kädessänsä kori,

    Herrat polttain hyökkää luo.

    Kahvipannuilleen Loviisa,

    Pikku Lyylinensä Liisa.

    Kalle, kas, voileivälleen

    Istui maahan itsekseen.

        Kello jo

        Soi nyt, soh'

    Vuodesta käy tuokio.

    Kone selväks! Auki ovi!

    Kukin ottaa omansa.

    Pönkkähameinen ei sovi

    Oikein vaunun ovesta.

    Päitä pyrkii akkunalle,

    Nekun sovinnoks saa Kalle.

    Liisa laulaa lallattaa.

    Isä lähtösuukon saa.

        Kello jo

        Soi nyt, soh!

    Vuodesta käy tuokio.

    Oikein merkitty on kaikki.

    "Oiva täss' on istua."

    "Varo tulta, rakas Maikki!"

    "Matkaan, täti, onnea!"

    "Pian mulle kirjoitappas!

    Suojaa hallalt' taimet!" — "Kappas,

    Herra Heimo hiljastui!"

    "Vuottakaa!" — "Ei voi, ei." — "Ui!"

        Kello jo

        Soi nyt, soh!

    Vuodesta käy tuokio.

    Piii… Nyt lähtöön juna saapi.

    Noan arkin painoinen.

    Kaupunkimme katoaapi;

    Mennään puiston ohitsen.

    Kauniin Maamme-laulun tuolla

    Junan jyryyn täytyy kuolla.

    Muistojemme kaupunki,

    Järvi armas, hyvästi!

        Kello jo

        Soi nyt, soh!

    Vuodesta käy tuokio.

    Raukka rautatienmies, mulla

    Aina näin soi korvissani.

    Aina täytyy mennä, tulla,

    Passit, passit huostassain!

    Vaunun portahilla kastun.

    Joka vaunun halki astun.

    Katselen kuin karhuten,

    Lippuin nurkat nyppäilen.

        Kello jo

        Soi nyt, soh!

    Vuodesta käy tuokio.

    Yhä näin me samaa tietä

    Maailmalle menemme;

    Tuskin seistään, kunnes sietää

    Saada voita leivälle.

    Pian haukkaa palaa pari!

    Täysin suin juo kahvi vari!

    "Missä Kalle?" — "Ulkona."

    "Sisään! Ollos varova!"

        Kello jo

        Soi nyt, soh!

    Vuodesta käy tuokio.

    Metsän puut kuin vuohet juoksee,

    Vuoret hölkkää vastaamme,

    Tuossa tullaan järven luokse,

    Tässä joen ylitse.

    Lentää talot, sillat, kankaat,

    Sananlennättimen langat

    Kiitäin kaartuu tolpista

    Aaltoisina viivoina.

        Kello jo

        Soi nyt, soh!

    Vuodesta käy tuokio.

    Höyryhepo hirnaseepi.

    Jotkut pois jo astuvat,

    Tuttuin syli vuotteleepi.

    Suukot sinkoelevat;

    Punaposkin Lyyli havaa

    Mummon syliin, silmät avaa

    Mesileivän saatuaan;

    Kallen uni katkaistaan.

        Kello jo

        Soi nyt, soh!

    Vuodesta käy tuokio.

    Levätä en saa vain minä.

    Kenkään ei mua kättele;

    Höyry viheltää: pois sinä

    Outoon seutuun etäälle!

    Ajan siipi se ei näänny,

    Ketään vuottamaan ei käänny,

    Vaunut, rata ryskyvi,

    Savuun haihtuu eloni.

        Kello jo

        Soi nyt, soh!

    Vuodesta käy tuokio.
